Antique Indian Cabinet Hand-Painted – Folk Art – 19th/20th Century – Temple or Altar Furniture – Kashmir/Rajasthan Stunning antique cabinet of Indian origin, fully hand-painted, probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. This piece is representative of the folk art of northern India, in a style between Kashmir and Rajasthan. Traditionally, this type of small furniture served either as a devotional cabinet (home altar) or as wall storage or table in a traditional house. Its hand-painted decoration made it unique, often related to religious or ceremonial use. Features: Origin: North India (Kashmir/Rajasthan style) Era: late 19th / early 20th century Wood: old raw wood Paint: floral and figurative gold hand-painted on a black background Patterns: stylized figures, foliage, birds Painted decoration on all visible faces (front, sides, top, and back) Handmade, rustic joinery Dimensions: Height: 54.5 cm Width: 44.5 cm Depth: 45 cm Condition and authenticity: Antique furniture, unique piece, unrestored. The paint is chipped in some places. The wood is cracked and uneven in places, a natural consequence of woodworking over time.
