Stunning rare golden bronze statuette made using the lost-wax technique, handcrafted in Africa, exact region unknown, but reminiscent of figures from Benin or Burkina Faso, in the tradition of bronzes produced using the lost-wax method (like those of the Dahomey, Somba, or Lobi). Vintage or antique from the 1940s-70s, or earlier. Depicting a stylized antelope or gazelle, almost chimeric, slender with long thin legs, head lowered. Beautiful detail work in the fur, large eyes, big ears, and pretty horns. Atypical object. 19.5 cm maximum height, approximately 19-20 cm maximum length, and 5 cm maximum width. Very good overall condition, some manufacturing defects including a small hole on the forehead, discreet, welding marks at the top of the legs, and slight wear from time. Fragile balance, it stands only on 3 legs as the body is heavy, and it will quickly tip over in case of a jolt or shock. Weighs about 1 kg.
