DIEULAFÉ Yvon 24/11/1903, Béziers (Hérault) - 21/08/1990, Saint-Gilles-Croix -de-Vie (Vendée) "Coming from an old Occitan family, his father was a pharmacist in Béziers. Yvon Dieulafé was a student of Paul Albert Laurens at the Julian Academy in Paris. He began in 1922 at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. 1928 and 1929, he exhibited at the Georges Petit gallery in particular subjects inspired by Corsica. He left for Algeria where his parents had large citrus farms. From 1925 to 1930, he stayed in the Sahara. He married in 1933 in Algiers, where he exhibited in 1936. YD led a very easy life until a setback forced him to have an exi much more sparse stence. He moved to SGCdV where he lived with great discretion after moving to Magné during the Occupation. In 1946 he exhibited at the Salon des Amis des Arts in Niort three oils representing the marsh. YD paints a lot of ports, landscapes and seascapes. We estimate its production at around 2000 paintings ". Some of them at my grandparents, at my mother's and at my house ..." Everyone had their Dieulafé in Magné ... Always while surfing I would also find pretty Provençal and Corsican paintings made by Dieulafé. With us, the reflections in the water are more visible, the high tops of poplars with green foliage.
