Those under 40 cannot know. However, in the 1970s, Gauthier rackets, made of wood, were internationally recognized for their quality. Top of the top, made in France Carentan (Manche) near Saint-Lô. In 1982, 100,000 racquets still left the Manchoise factory, which had 45 employees. Gauthier racquets were then exported as far as Japan..... Then, in 1984, production fell to 25,000. In two seasons, the company collapsed. Filing of balance sheet.
