Description

Watercolor, The Bird Man, signed lower right C de Charmoy, dated 1983 (57x76) Cozette de Charmoy is a Canadian-British artist and poet. His works are in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the Art Gallery of Cape Breton University and the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź. Cozette de Charmoy (Anglo-Canadian) knew how to abolish the boundaries between her plastic work and her poetic work; In the anti-establishment atmosphere of the 1960s, she joined the cosmopolitan circles of visual and sound poetry which, stimulated by Fluxus, discovered the Terra incognita of the artistic world. Everything then became possible and all at the same time. Textual element and plastic element were intertwined, each becoming, in the collage, an element of the other; not as a proposition of truth, but as that of a possibility, as a rebus with two meanings, ironic, irrationally logical.
