For the condition thank you for detailing the photos.PIERRE GAILLARDOT (French 1910-2002) Pierre Gaillardot is a French painter, watercolourist, engraver and lithographer born in 1910. He is known for his inventive and powerful way of representing movement.HIS THEMES Self-taught, he chooses his subjects according to his favorite passions, and horse racing occupy a special place in his work. He worked on the racetracks, in Deauville and on the French Riviera. Alongside horses and sport, Gaillardot painted the wine world with great force. His paintings of winegrowers, treated in an expressionist way, occupy a whole section of his work. HIS CAREER Gaillardot immediately attracted the attention of the art world and continued personal exhibitions. He exhibited successfully at the Salon Comparaisons and joined the group led by the painter Rodolphe Caillaux. In 1966, Gaillardot received the Puvis de Chavannes Prize, awarded by the National Society of Fine Arts and the City of Paris.HIS STYLE Even if Gaillardot never followed artistic training, it would be hazardous to reduce his work to art brut, it has a resolutely expressionist touch, through its ardor and vigor. However, contrary to a large number of expressionist artists who criticize the surrounding world, Gaillardot remains in agreement with the values of the society in which he lives, its distractions and its games. His painting never takes on a denouncing aspect; his watercolors, executed on the motif, testify to the painter's perception in the moment. Gaillardot then reconstructs in the workshop a vision centered on rendering his perception of animation, the atmosphere and the movement that have struck his memory. Gaillardot has a particular genius in the use of the canvas, he creates a feeling of speed , movement by the unusual accumulation of the elements represented. This disorder is only apparent, and thought with great care and science to arouse in the spectator / viewer an attention close to hypnosis. THE LAST YEARS Gaillardot died in 2002. His works are in the French public collections, especially in those of the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris. It is in particular this last museum which organized during the painter's lifetime, in 1971, at the Palais de Tokyo, a retrospective exhibition of the work of Pierre Gaillardot. integral part of the description.Dimensions: Oil (sight) Height: 20.4 cmWidth: 26.2 cmFrameHeight: 34 cmWidth: 39 cmThickness: 1.5 cmP 750839 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
