WATERCOLOR ON PAPER HOUSE SEASIDE BY JEAN PAUL GUINEGAULT XXEME A4109 This watercolor on paper was made by Jean-Paul Guinegault, it represents houses probably by the sea. Jean-Paul GUINEGAULT was born at 7 rue Jules Chaplain, in PARIS in the 6th arrondissement, January 4, 1918, at half past ten in the evening, in a private mansion in Montparnasse, which his father had rented to try his luck in Paris. His parents were Bretons, originally from Rennes. His father, Georges, had worked on the violin, loved operas and poetry and was especially passionate about art drawing, particularly for the antique and the living model. He had been admitted to the Beaux-Arts in Paris. An excellent portrait painter and nude specialist, he was a recognized artist. Her mother, Madeleine, sang and played a little piano; she also had a great artistic taste without making a profession of it. Jean-Paul started playing the piano at the age of 5; at 8 he worked 2 hours a day and at 20 he was quite a good pianist and accompanied his father, but it was not his destiny to make a musical career. His father rightly judged that he would never become a concert artist and made him work on painting with him. The father and the son were associated as painters and musicians until 1950. However, Georges Guinegault was exclusive, even authoritarian. His son turns out to be a mediocre portrait painter, but shows a real talent for still life and interesting qualities as a colorist. After the death of his wife, Jean-Paul Guinegault then decided to come and live in Thénac, in one of the Bon family rentals, because it was precisely at Mme Bon's, in Thénac, that he bought his painting equipment. Artistically, Jean-Paul Guinegault is part of the lineage of so-called classical painting. His masters, Louis Roger and René Jaudon taught him his unshakeable technique and the game of values. He masters the drawing and the perspective which give his paintings solidity and relief. Colorist, he tames the light and the people of the shadows: the gouaches are marked by vigor. The material (soils, stones, objects and flowers), the water (which absorbs and returns the reflections while soothing the mind), the area which surrounds the forms, bypasses the masses, opens panoramic roads where the look, these are the three privileged elements of the painter. Its motifs evoke landscaped France: the Mediterranean Baux de Provence, the alleys flowered with hollyhocks of Talmont or the Ile de Ré, the mills of Cancale, and especially the wooden boats of the Atlantic awaiting a hypothetical departure at the tide or an agony in the mud. His most perfect success undoubtedly lies in the still lifes executed with a broken knife and brush to capture the vibration of the fruits and which the perfection of the color highlights. "Member of the Independents of Paris", "Member of French Artists", selected for the France-signature prize, Jean-Paul Guinegault was able to exhibit quite often at the Ror Volmar galleries, in Burgundy and Paris. In Charente-Maritime, Jean-Paul exhibited a lot in Vaux and Saint Georges de Didonne, during the summer period. We point out that it was probably cut because the signature is amputated, we point out tears on the top of various friction and spots in the blue of the sky. Sold uncleaned. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Do not hesitate to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Watercolor Height: 40 cm Width: 30 cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
