Hélène Martin, an artist from Marseille, joined the Péano group around 1945, took part in the workshops of the Union Nationale des Arts Plastiques with Seyssaud and Max Papart. Around 1950, she painted landscapes of Marseille and the Var with angular shapes and contrasting colors, always rich in matter, influenced by Chabaud. Complete artist she explores different techniques from the 60s, ceramics, sculpture and assemblies. She then gradually moved towards a so-called "singular" art. A friend of César, she has taken part in numerous exhibitions. A documentary made for Arte was dedicated to him in 2008.
