A favorite for this three-panel screen from the early 19th century, in the Louis XV style.
As ornamental as they are astonishing, screens are pieces whose primary function was to preserve privacy.
Today, they can be found in interiors to separate and delineate living spaces, as a headboard, or simply to assert a decorative style. The frame of this one is made of molded and carved wood, coated with plaster, and painted in a soft blue-green, accompanied by gilded accents that highlight the reliefs of this piece.
The floral garlands depicted add a certain delicacy to each panel. The panels, now openwork, were originally intended to receive paintings, silk panels, or beveled glass.
