Description

Magazine rack or "Notenstander" by Thonet in its first version, between 1883 and 1895. The sections of the arches are thinner than those of the second model, and the central arch is not prominent to serve as a handle. In original condition without major restoration, this piece has been cleaned and then polished with shellac. This type of furniture is generally not stamped by Thonet, but it does not need a signature to be cataloged. It is in the well-known "decor" version in rosewood.
