Sumptuous Christofle silver metal bread basket. GALLIA, Art Nouveau period.

Very finely crafted, this silver metal basket is signed and numbered.
The carvings are rich and refined.

The piece shows traces of use linked to its age, but it is overall in very good condition.
However, there are scratches on the bottom of the basket.
One of the ends, of one of the small scrolls of one of the exterior handles, is no longer “welded” (see last photo)
This is not visible because there is no breakage or missing and the whole remains completely united.
However, I prefer to clarify this for the sake of transparency.

The hallmark and number are on the reverse of the flowered handles.

This piece designed by the Alfénide Manufacture now belongs to the Christofle catalog.
Indeed, the Alfénide Manufacture was bought by Christofle in 1880. From this date, the pieces were named "Orfèvrerie Gallia".
the goat's head hallmark in a diamond inscribed in a square was also registered in 1908
