The chair No. A 738 by Thonet, created in 1920, was most likely designed by Otto Prutscher. According to historical documents (notably Jirí Uhlíř), category 738 includes nine variants, identified by Roman numerals. Is it outdated or minimalist? Simple and comfortable, it can complement many decors. Set of 4 very homogeneous pieces, ready for use, natural beech finish under shellac. These four arches make it more "bistro" than the ring model presented in the Thonet, Mundus, and Kohn catalogs between 1920 and 1933. All pieces have their Thonet label on the underside of the seat. The caning is in good condition, with six strands in the "French style." For the record, it should not be overlooked that THONET, MUNDUS, and KOHN formed a single group already practicing co-distribution since 1920...
