Regarding its condition, there are small signs of folding and ink lines in the margin. On the litho, we note small stains in places. The lithograph remains very fresh in color; once framed, most of the flaws will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved to soft-ground etching, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, at the shadow theater of the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances by creating very innovative color backgrounds. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted approximately a thousand watercolors).
