Born in 1917, Gérard Hofmann began a career as a painter before turning to ceramics.

In Vallauris, he joined the Cérenne ceramic workshop as a decorator. After 1959, Gérard Hofmann left 'Cérenne' and opened his own workshop with his wife Christiane, on the road to Col de Saint Antoine in Vallauris.

The couple produced utility ceramics and unique decorative pieces such as roll vases and mirrors.
