PHILIPPE GENTILS ACRYLIC ON PANEL NAMED BATH OF 2000 C1154Acrylic on wood panel, part of the "Bathing" series White wooden frame, note that the frame bears traces. Philippe Gentils - contemporary painter "Fascinated by life and by Love for all its forms, to pay homage to them I have long favored and fed on the work of observation and analysis of natural elements: Water, Earth, the Body and their different qualities of energy. I now favor by inner necessity, the work of Composition, synthetic and free through some recurring patterns and themes that I travel in a cyclical and instinctive way. bands: to express life, movement, multiply the entries and combinations by dividing the format into parallel and regular bands, themselves punctuated in increasing and decreasing sequences. Multiple horizons: Evocation of unfocused landscapes by the juxtaposition of horizontal bands The Body, Incarnations: Change of meaning By the tilting of the frame and passage from the horizontal to the vertical, from the landscape to the human figure, incarnation, ascents ion. The Checkers: created by the superposition and the meeting of two horizontal and vertical networks, inhabited land, landscapes and figures. Checkers and spirals: Drawing centered by the superposition on the orthogonal grid of a spiral, symbol of time and evolution. And other compositions, including the return to unity as an extension or break with these practices, always with the aim of suggesting rather than imposing, in search of a balance in substance and form between reason and intuition, figuration and abstraction, brutality and aestheticism, color and material drawing. A contemporary painting that does not renounce tradition and its principles of harmony, complex but accessible, all with a touch of humor and self-mockery. After being consolidated in my previous approach, I broadened my areas of interest, always favoring the work of observation and analysis to express the spirit of natural elements: WATER, EARTH, AIR and FIRE and orders: animal, mineral and plant based on discoveries, cycles, my desires and my intuition. I kept the wood as a support. To work better with the material and the textures I gave up watercolor for acrylic paint and plasters worked in thicknesses by opaque or transparent layers posed by successive layers. The works are always presented in the form of boxes. To create a coherent whole, I instead of picking up various objects transposed these into metal, thread or weft, to draw in space, play with the ambiguity between what is painted and what is is feigned. Preserved the glass to protect the whole, sometimes worked and enhanced with a few traces of paint on the surface; it is a holographic vision in relief or depth, always in motion. Following the work on plants, I reintroduced the human figure, the sinuous lines of their contours provided me with a solution to evoke and represent the body, first by small touches, by the line in the "baths" ", then in a more and more assertive way in the" nudes ", without ever that these do not mask the funds. "Text taken from the artist's website. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Frame Height: 31 cm Width: 31 cm Painting Height: 23.5 cm Width: 23.5 cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
