Description

Beautiful pair of wall plates made of glazed earthenware, handcrafted in Nabeul (Tunisia), dating from the 1960s-1970s.

These two decorative pieces are hand-painted in traditional Arabo-Andalusian patterns. The decoration uses a palette of cobalt blue, copper blue, and pine green on a white enamel background.

The set consists of two distinct patterns:
- The first plate features a central geometric and symmetrical decoration, composed of palmettes and floral medallions. A craftsman’s stamp in blue ink bearing the word "Poteries" and an unidentified symbol is visible on the underside.
- The second plate illustrates the traditional motif of confronting roosters, surrounded by a vegetal frieze. It is unmarked.

Each piece has two original mounting holes on the reverse for wall hanging.
They are in excellent overall condition. The enamel and colors are well preserved. No chips, cracks, or restorations to report.

Dimensions: Palmette and medallion plate: 32 x 32 x 3 cm / Confronting roosters plate: 32 x 32 x 2.5 cm.

Careful packaging. I answer all your questions regarding the items and their delivery. Feel free to check out my store Bibelot & Co.
