Artist biography: Émile Gilioli (June 10, 1911 - January 19, 1977) was a French sculptor and artist of Italian origin, a major figure in post-war abstract sculpture. Born in Paris, he studied at the Fine Arts schools of Nice and Paris, and his work is characterized by a pursuit of purity of forms and great geometric rigor. Gilioli also created numerous graphic works and tapestry cartoons, often integrating his sculpture with architecture and nature. His creations, exhibited worldwide, reflect a deep attachment to abstraction and spirituality.
