OIL ON CANVAS PORTRAIT WOMAN BY ANDRE FAVORY 1930 GREEN BACKGROUND C3509 This oil on canvas was produced by André Favory, the signature is illegible, simply on the back we identify twice the signature Favory, "buy at Favory" written in pencil by wood, we also find Favory written on the canvas with probably a dedication.André Favory was born in 1889 in Paris to a Parisian industrial father. Nephew of the satirical designer Hermann Paul, it was as a self-taught artist that he began to paint by vocation and intermittently, having to ensure a parallel job in the family business. He began in 1907, without having had a master, to exhibit at the Salon des Indépendants. Heir to Paul Cézanne's painting, he researched his style and experimented with several pictorial languages between 1907 and 1910. In 1912, he entered the Académie Julian and studied with professors Marcel Baschet and Henri Roger. He befriended Jean Metzinger, Albert Gleize and Roger de La Fresnaye and met there his friend André Lhote. In 1914 he was mobilized during the First World War. On his return, after having lived through the horror of war, he turned away from cubism which he considered too “intellectual”. André Favory was then known for his landscapes and female nudes. His touch is large and powerful, the colors used are bright and warm. The work represents a typical portrait of this artist, we find this artist on Artprice with a certain number of results. The painting remains in a suitable condition, however a dent in the hair, on the right in the canvas with a deformation, small friction and wear especially on the bottom probably traces of the old frame, the whole remained particularly fresh for an article from that time. not framed. For the state thank you for detailing the photos.Do not hesitate to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description.Dimensions: Height: 46.5 cmWidth: 38 cmThickness: 2 cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
