Description

Oil on canvas interior scene by Jean-Laurent Challié A5898 Here we have a woman leaning on a piano reading in a bourgeois interior; this oil painting is typical of Jean-Laurent Challié (1880-1943). The work is well executed. The canvas is intentionally presented un-restored, unprepared, with a small paint loss at the bottom left noted. Jean-Laurent Challié, whose real name was Jean Laurent Buffet, was initially a post-impressionist and had a brief Fauvist period. He then fully and truly found himself in an intimate painting style where he demonstrated a controlled hypersensitivity. He regularly exhibited alongside Picasso, Bonnard, Vallotton, and Valtat. As early as 1909, at the Salon d'Automne, his flower paintings were noticed. Our photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the work. For the condition, please pay close attention to the photos. Feel free to zoom in. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Height: 22 cm Width: 27 cm Thickness: 1 cm A: QX7GQ3OC2AP: 1748001 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
