Albert Gleizes (1881-1953) was a French painter, engraver, and theorist, considered one of the major founders of the Cubist movement and an essential figure of the School of Paris. Born in Paris, he exhibited from the early 20th century and quickly distanced himself from naturalistic painting to explore geometric forms and a modern conception of pictorial space. In 1912, he published, along with Jean Metzinger, the book Du Cubisme, a fundamental text of the movement that significantly contributed to its dissemination in France and internationally. A member of the Section d'Or group, Albert Gleizes played a central role in the history of modern art. His work, comprising paintings, drawings, engravings, and lithographs, is distinguished by structured and dynamic compositions that have profoundly influenced 20th-century art. This artwork titled Composition cubiste is an original lithograph made from a characteristic composition of Albert Gleizes' artistic language. It is signed in the plate, bears a stamp, and is numbered 161/200, indicating a limited edition. The dimensions of the sheet are 65 × 50 cm. The publication date of this lithograph is to be determined. The general condition is good. The printed image is in very good condition, with well-preserved colors and a sharp composition. However, there are some variations or alterations in color on the white peripheral part of the sheet (the border), without affecting the visual quality of the engraving itself. This is a quality modern artwork, representative of historical Cubism, ideal for a collector, a lover of 20th-century art, or for elegant and structured decoration.
