LARGE VASE JULES VIEILLARDET COMPAGNIE BORDEAUX 3 CROISSANTS EARTHENWARE DECOR AMEDEE DE CARANZA M909This is an exceptional vase in several respects. Indeed, the size is there, we find the refined enamel technique of Jules Vieillard in Bordeaux. The decoration represents in reserve fantastic birds and scrolls. It is rare to find this type of piece, the applications are of great finesse. On the hollow back, mark of the Jules Vieillard et Compagnie factory with the three intertwined crescents which takes up the coat of arms of the city of Bordeaux. We could attribute this type of decor to the presence of Amédée de Caranza, a visionary workshop manager, but I cannot confirm that. Jules Vieillard was born in 1813 in Paris and died in 1868 in Bordeaux. He was the director of the fine earthenware factory in Bordeaux from 1845 to 1868. The factory will exceed 1400 workers, and increase its notoriety with the exterior decoration of monuments and fountains with architectural ceramics. There is a hollow mark on the base: J. VIEILLARD & Co BORDEAUX 271 T For the condition, note a jump in the ass and a jump in the neck with a small crack, a small shock. However, it remains in a good state of preservation.
