IMPRESSIONIST OIL ON CANVAS signed G. DARGOUGE - Animated landscape at the edge of the water with a fisherman on a boat - in a pretty Louis XV style gilded wood frame with some minor wear and lack of gilding (photos) - in very good condition - Ref.42120517/33 - Frame 69 x 60 cm - Painting 53.5 x 44.8 cm - Weight 2.6 kg - Georges Edmond D'Argouges (Paris 1897 Boulogne Billancourt 1990) was a painter of Breton seascapes, landscapes, and genre scenes. Pupil of Cormon, Humbert and Fouqueray, Georges D'Argouges exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, obtaining a third medal in 1924 and a second medal in 1930. First Second Grand Prix of Rome in 1924, Georges D'Argouges is a painter complete, with the temperament of a reporter when he became the official painter of the Army in 1959. Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique for 20 years, he loved above all to teach in his studio on rue Bartholdi in Paris. He painted scenes of the life of fishermen in Brittany, but also scenes of processions, again exercising his profession as an artist as a real reporter.
