"Engelstuhl" chair signed Mundus, clearly a production by Joseph HOFMANN (Vienna, Austria) from the years 1907/1908 in bent wood with a caned seat. Similar to model no. 36 at KOHN. Ready for use with original walnut finish under shellac. This chair is in perfect condition, the caning is perfect (cane 2.2 x 2.4 mm). The chair bears the MUNDUS label and is a product of Hofmann's factory in Bielitz (Austro-Hungary). Dimensions: Total height: 90 cm. Seat height: 47 cm. Seat diameter: 40 cm. Total width: 45 cm. It is noteworthy that Joseph Hofmann is an Austrian manufacturer of bent wood who worked from 1880 to 1907 under his own brand, and then joined the Mundus Consortium with his production. Do not confuse him with designer Joseph Hoffmann (1870-1956), co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte, who was one of the main figures of the Vienna Secession.
