Varnished ceramic pitcher signed by François Chapuis, vintage and retro from the 1960s.
Native of Beaune, François Chapuis (1928 - 2002) grew up in Nancy, marked by three years of studies at the Fine Arts. "The school was experimental at that time, with a focus on decorative arts. The goal was to prove that provincial schools could be nationalized. Thus, we learned painting, drawing, sculpture, stained glass, wallpapers, furniture, and lettering in all directions. After trying his hand at everything, as he liked to say, he first perfected himself in ceramics, imitating the style of Picaut and Vallauris before finding his way and developing an original concept, 'light wall,' a product of the artist's experiments with plastics applied to decoration.
Today, the ceramic works of this great artist are highly sought after because very few were made; a single decade of production gives this magnificent pitcher rarity, making it unavailable online.
