This series of five spice jars is a Czechoslovak production for export to France. Their square shape is atypical. It is a robust and rustic earthenware. No cracks or chips. The gold edging on the lids is faded in places and demonstrates the intensive use that was made of these kitchen utensils. The floral decoration is a wicker basket holding a large bouquet of roses.
