It is countersigned, it is a 1st 1/2 state. La Clorinde is a frigate of the French navy, fifth ship of the Pallas class, launched in 1808 after being laid down on June 19, 1806. She had forty-four cannons and was designed by Sané. The engraving has a natural wooden frame and its protective glass. We report an accident on the frame, note stains, pitting in places. However, it remains in generally presentable condition. René Pinard (1883-1938) is a French painter and engraver. He was appointed Marine Painter in 1921. Obviously, as a marine painter, most of his work has the theme of the sea, the navy and sailors. Moreover, more often boats than the sea itself. During his 35-year career as a painter, he produced a number of beautiful works: engravings, drawings, watercolors, characterized by a systematic use of powerful black.
