ENGRAVING 19TH FOUNTAIN OF GUINGAMP DRAWED PRINTED BY ISIDORE MEYER Isidore Meyer & Cie, 21 rue du Vieux Augustins Paris (born in 1816-1875 end of activity). Isidore Meyer, was allied to the Briesenmeisters, through his wife. Their daughter Céline, having died young, he transferred his affection to his niece by marriage, Fanny Briesenmeister, née Jussiaume and as she was particularly gifted at drawing encouraged him in this path by giving him many advice and lessons. She became a well-known painter and exhibited both in Paris and London. Lithographer, engraver and printer, Isidore Meyer, had a printing workshop in Paris on rue des Petits-Champs, at number 37. Born in Chambéry, he married in Châteauroux since his wife was from the region. As he was a designer and engraver of certain talent, he was entrusted with the illustration of a magnificent work, published in 1852 in Châteauroux by the Printer-Editor, A.Aupetit and whose historical texts had been written by Messieurs de la Tramblais , de la Villegille and Jules de Vorys... A second edition appeared in 1882, with a significant contribution of drawings and illuminations. Very close to the Jussiaume, goldsmiths in the same town, Fanny Briesenmeister, née Jussiaume, who became his student, inherited a first print of the "Picturesque Sketches of the Indre" which we can in turn pass on to our suite. For the condition, note small oxidation stains, halos, pitting, slight creasing from handling, trace of folding in places, small missing, micro-tear....
