ENGRAVING HENRI SOMM TWO WOMEN IN HATS LOOKING TO THE LEFT Signature lower right and stamp lower left Ste Norman engraving n ° 90 François Clément Sommier, known as Henry Somm, born February 29, 1844 in Rouen and died March 14 1907 in Paris, is a French painter, watercolourist, designer, engraver and caricaturist. After studying at the municipal drawing school in Rouen, Henry Somm moved to Paris in the 1860s, making numerous etchings for the Paris review between 1873 and 1876, and, for Cadart, among others, some inserts intended for L'Eau forte en…. In 1879 and 1889, he participated in the exhibitions of the impressionists at Durand-Ruel in Paris. He collaborated with the press: Le Chat noir, La Charge, La Cravache, La Chronique parisienne, High Life, Frou-Frou, Le Rire. He wrote the one-act comedy La Berline de émigré, or Never too late to do well, created for Le Chat noir, on December 25, 18854. left a large quantity of drawings and watercolors of Parisiennes captured on the spot in the 1890s. For the condition, we note small oxidation stains and halos, pitting, slight wrinkling of handling, traces of folds in places, small lack, micro - tear, engraving taped on cardboard sheet at the top ....
