Biography of the artist: František Kupka (September 23, 1871 – June 24, 1957), also known as Frank Kupka or François Kupka, was a Czech painter and engraver, a pioneer of abstract art and co-founder of Orphism. Born in Bohemia, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague before moving to France, where he played a major role in the development of modern art. Kupka is recognized for his transition from realism to abstraction, and his works often explore movement, color, and spirituality. He exhibited his first non-figurative canvases as early as 1912, marking a significant point in the history of 20th-century art.
