Description

Superb Empty Pocket in blown glass from the old Old Moorish glassworks
the production of “Verriers de Maure-Vieil” focused mainly on glass paste and work on stratified mineral textures, as close as possible to its direct environment.

The intriguing history of glassmaking fully contributes to the charm of the pieces that come from it.

Located on a natural cirque surrounded by wild nature, in the middle of the Caldera (south of France), Maure Vieil is made up of:
• a chapel with modernist and eccentric architecture
• but also a New Age fitness center.
• to which is added the glassware of Maure-vieil.

The Old Maure Glassworks was built in the 1960s.
It closed its doors in the 1990s, leaving a building abandoned since that day.

the Vide Poche is quite rare and in very good condition, no cracks or chips
Produced in the 60s/70s, this Vide Poche is mainly made of black, with pale pink and orange marbling.
The latter resembles lava stains metaphorically recalling the furnace of its creative process.
This also recalls the mineral marbling specific to the work of the master glassmaker Bob le Bleis.
The full glass object is massive with an extreme minimalist look.

The Maure Vieil stamp (interlaced M and V) is found sealed under the glassware.
High quality craftsmanship. Superb piece

I would add that I easily combine this pocket tray with a paperweight, to create a hybrid piece (see photo)
In this ad only the Empty Pocket is sold, the paperweight corresponds to another ad.

I also have a collection of 7 pieces from the Maure Vieille workshops.
These pieces are visible in my other listings
