After beginnings in illustration and caricature, he turned to painting and engraving. A member of the Puteaux group and the Section d'Or, he actively participated in the development of French cubism, developing a personal style that combines geometric rigor with colorful refinement. A virtuoso engraver, he received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix for engraving at the Venice Biennale (1956). His work is now preserved in many international museums, including the Centre Pompidou and MoMA.
