Description
Antique desk inkwell with interconnected compartments, made from a solid block of glass cut with beveled edges and a brass cap. The spherical reservoir, equipped with two side lugs, is connected by a thin conduit to a circular dish located at the front of the block: the ink level in the dish is maintained as you write.
The cap, shaped like a rimmed dome, attaches to the reservoir with two tabs that engage beneath the lugs of the glass. It protects the ink from evaporation and dust.
In its original condition: there are small chips in the glass here and there (visible in the photos) and fine usage scratches on the surfaces of the glass. The cap is slightly dented and slightly deformed at the base, with an oxidation patina.
Dimensions: With cap: 9.5 x 9.5 x 10 cm / Without cap: 9.5 x 6 x 10 cm.
