DESIMONE refers here to Giovanni De Simone, a renowned Italian ceramist, active mainly from the 1950s to 1970s and considered one of the great names in 20th-century Italian artistic ceramics. He is part of the mid-century modern movement, with a strong Mediterranean, naive, and figurative influence, featuring works with very bright and contrasting colors (turquoise, yellow, red, black), and stylized patterns (fish, birds, figures, mythological scenes).
