Tripod servant in red clay is an iconic piece by Jean Austruy (1910-2012), a central figure in the revival of French ceramics. Established in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie since 1943, Austruy marked the post-war period with his modernist forms and research on textures, actively participating in the golden age of the "potters of Vallauris."
The object features three bowls connected by an intertwined helical handle, a technical feat perfectly preserved here. The piece is distinguished by its frothy white-grey glaze with an "orange peel" effect, whose transparency reveals the terracotta underneath. This process creates very pretty pink and ochre nuances within the incised geometric patterns (chevrons and small cups).
Very good condition
