Large faience lamp from Clamecy signed Roger Colas, 1960s. Synthetic fabric lampshade in the shape of a lily of the valley bell, with beveled edges topped with amber glass pendants. Roger Colas (1907–1993) was a French ceramist and faïencier, born in Dornecy, near Clamecy.
Self-taught, he learned porcelain decoration techniques from a former Sèvres decorator who had retired in Dornecy.
During World War II, he was mobilized, became a prisoner in Germany, and his wife Fernande took over the management of the company. Roger Colas is known for his creative talent: he designed almost all the shapes, models, and molds of the Clamecy faience, laying the foundations for a family know-how that continues.
He is also the father of the famous navigator Alain Colas.
In 1972, he passed management to his son Jean-François, who continued and modernized the activity, notably by introducing the production of fèves for galettes des rois in the 1980s. Total height 67.5 cm. Lampshade diameter 40 cm. L: 40 W: 40 H: 67
