BRONZE SUBJECT LA RENOMMÉE BY PAUL DUCUING BARBEDIENNE MARBLE BASE M784This subject is entitled "La Renown", it was made by Paul Ducuing. It is in gilt bronze, beautifully crafted. Here we find the quality that we find at Barbedienne. Paul Ducuing (1867-1949). Paul Ducuing entered the Toulouse School of Fine Arts in 1886 in the workshops of Alexandre Laporte (1850-1904) and Henri Maurette (1834-1898). On a scholarship from the City of Toulouse, he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris in the workshops of sculptors Alexandre Falguière and Antonin Mercié. After having had numerous official commissions, for which he obtained awards, he became director of biscuit works at the Sèvres Manufactory from 1919 to 1927. Member of the Salon des artistes français, he exhibited there from 1888 and obtained a medal of 2nd class in 1901 and a 1st class medal in 1906, the year he went out of competition. He is mainly known for his memorials and official monuments in the Midi-Pyrénées region and in the south of France3. His friend Albert Sarraut supported him with the Ministry of Colonies to carry out a mission to complete important orders in Indochina, Annam, Cambodia, a country he crossed from December 1921 to December 1924, after having obtained leave from the Manufacture de Sèvres. We report friction and black bites, wear of gilding, in particular on the drapery at the back and on the front, on the hand, the trumpet and the laurel wreath. The trumpet holds but it must be replaced so that it can hold easily. Note an accident on the tip of a wing. However this bronze remains in an acceptable general state. It weighs a significant weight of 3.4 kilograms. Our many photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom.
