ART DECO STATUE BY BRIAND MARCEL ANDRE BOURAINE MAX LE VERRIER DANCER WITH A HOOP 1930 MARBLE HOLDER E670 This dancer is guaranteed to be from the Art Deco period, it is from 1930. It is a spelter subject with a green patina. Typical of the decorative arts, a naked woman holds a hoop. It is based on a supporting marble also characteristic of this period. We can find on the foot the signature "BRIAND" pseudonym of Marcel André Bouraine, and published by Max Le Verrier "Danseuse au cerceau" by Briand reference N° 918. Marcel André Bouraine (1886-1948) is a French sculptor. He studied sculpture under the direction of Joseph-Alexandre Falguière. Captured by the Germans during the First World War, he was interned in Switzerland. Back in Paris, he exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries in 1922. Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier, more commonly known as Max Le Verrier, also known by the pseudonym of Artus was a French sculptor. He was known to be a pioneer of the Parisian Art Deco movement, creating decorative art objects often in bronze as well as historical sculptures. We point out for the most picky, some minimal scratches on the marble. Also note friction and wear, micro-scratches and scratches. Nothing dramatic, the state of this statue remains largely presentable. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description.
