Art Deco bronze archer by Victor Demanet 1932 black marble Belgian school M3226 This archer with green patina was made by Victor Demanet. Victor Joseph Ghislain Demanet (1895-1964) is a Belgian sculptor and medalist. Demanet's work includes medals, figures and portraits of kings and heroes as well as compositions of workers. Victor Demanet mainly produced sculptures showing physical work and powerful movement. The work rests on a double-tiered black marble base, the patina is sumptuous and beautifully crafted. It is in good general condition. We note that the arch has been glued back together at both ends (see photo), note some chips and small gaps in the corner at the level of the marble.
