SUBJECT TERRE CUITE VIEUX CRU BY AUGUSTIN MARIE GARRY SUSSE FRÈRES PARIS ART NEW 1910 C1317 Large terracotta of a man opening a bottle of wine. : GARRY and hollow stamp: SUSSE FRÈRES PARIS and hollow monogram stamp. It is of a realism and an astonishing quality, in the line as in the attitudes. The symbol is rich since it celebrates the work of the winemaker between viticulture and viniculture, but also because it brings together in one action all the objects around wine that deserve our attention: the bottle, the cork and the corkscrew. The work has accents of romanticism and realism, and celebrates strength and simplicity. The character is not dressed: dressed in peasant pants held up by a wide belt, a shirt with rolled up sleeves and shoes hooves, it exudes rusticity. Sold as is, let us point out restored accidents: at the level of the neck and at the level of the feet. Sold as presented in the photos. Augustin-Marie Garry was born in Laval in 1847. He was first an art carpenter. Attracted by the work of the vineyard, he also invented various machines for grafting the vine. At the age of 45, he embarked on sculpture, his masters being Auguste Ledru and Jacques Callot. The quality of his work was worth him to be admitted into the Society of French artists in 1893 and to accumulate medals and distinctions For the state thank you for detailing the photos. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Height: 32 cmWidth: 11cmLength: 12 cm I remain at your disposal for any questions.
