SILVER BRONZE MASCOT BY F BAZIN 1900 ONYX BASE E677 This subject representing a slightly naked woman is typical of the Art Nouveau period, it is 1900. It bears the signature at the base F. BAZIN and we find the marking "Deposited". François Victor José Johannes Bazin, known as François Bazin, was a French sculptor and medalist (1897-1956). François Bazin was contacted by the Hispano Suiza Company to create the radiator cap for their future automobiles using the bird motif adorning the cabins of the victorious Guynemer squadron. François Bazin creates a large number of automobile radiator caps: Cigogne (1920, Hispano Suiza), head of a Mangbetu Woman (Croisière Noire de Citroën), Triomphe (Isotta Fraschini), elephant's head (Latil), Centaure (Unic), Unicorn (the Unicorn). In 1929, he won the gold medal at the Salon des artistes français and obtained the National Prize for his work Aux Bigoudens, land of pardons and legends at Pores-Car en Penmarch.
