Description
Nice pair of bentwood bistro chairs, signed Thonet. Made in Czechoslovakia in the 1940s. Original labels are affixed under the seats. Partially restored, they have been sanded and re-lacquered in a medium oak shade from Liberon, revealing the beautiful grain of the wood. The two seat surfaces, in good condition, have been re-glued. Some traces of the previous red/wine undercoat remain. The bentwood cross braces have cracked in places over time, and three screws are missing from one of the two chairs (old broken screw threads are stuck in the thickness of the wood, and we were unable to remove them). However, they are very stable and still quite sturdy. In great vintage condition.
