OIL ON CANVAS BY MAURICE EMPI REPRESENTATIVE HORSES IN A ROUNDABOUT 1960 C2642 This oil on canvas is characteristic of Maurice Empi, this artist has fairly high prices on Art Price.The scene is pleasant, colorful, we find characters with period outfits , elegant, jockeys, crowd.The canvas is in a good condition, the frame fits perfectly. For the state thank you for detailing the photos.Do not hesitate to zoom.Maurice EMPI was born on January 31, 1933 in Saint Etienne (Loire) at 8 rue Conte Grand Champ. His mother, Marie Antoinette born ESCOT in 1906 and died in 1995 will accompany him all his life, while his father Victor, brilliant industrialist died too soon because of tetanus. In 1949, he entered the Superior Technical School "Art and Advertising "in Montparnasse, and has as teacher the painter Marcel BASLER who befriends him and advises him to give up advertising drawing to devote himself entirely to painting. He travels through Provence in the footsteps of Van GOGH before meeting Hélène née MAILLARD, the one who will become his wife in 1950. That same year, he seizes the opportunity to enter the studio of GEN PAUL to whom he owes his beginnings. in painting as well as the rough apprenticeship of the trade. He remained there from 1950 to 1953.His first significant exhibition was organized in 1953 by Michel BOUTIN, in his gallery Rue du Fg St Honoré in PARIS, while he was doing his military service at the 1st regional squadron of the Montlhéry Train where he met besides Sacha DISTEL, before joining Paris and the Mortier barracks. His paintings are also exhibited abroad: Stockholm (1955) London (1959) while being rewarded in Paris by the Municipal Council (1965), before later to rebound towards Esch sur Alzette (1969) then beyond the seas to Nagoya and Tokyo (1971). All those in France and abroad who have appreciated his paintings, gouaches and pastels, drawings and other reproductions of his works, whether they are professionals or amateurs, friends or relations, buyers or simple visitors, faithful or passing through, deserve his deep gratitude. His favorite themes are the sights of Paris or elsewhere as well as of Venice, sport in particular regattas, horses, but also still lifes, musicians… The year 2012, of Maurice EMPI's "Diamond Jubilee", was very successful. Several exhibitions have paid tribute to his 60 years of painting, notably at the Pascal FREMONT Art Gallery in Le Havre. In 2013, EMPI exhibited for the first time at the LAETITIA Gallery during a group exhibition. The highlight of 2013, his “Retour aux Sources” in the Loire Valley will mark his 80th birthday with three successive exhibitions from the end of August to October in his native region. Since 2016, Maurice EMPI exhibits at the Roussard gallery in Paris Montmartre.
