Description

Egyptian woman kneeling at the wicker basket also called Nubian Offering by Guillaume Laplagne 1930 Empty pocket H5430This silvered bronze subject is 1930, no doubt about it, it is signed "Guillaume Laplagne". It represents an Africanist woman holding a wicker basket. Guillaume Laplagne, statuary, is known for his sculptures of African and Nubian women in patinated terracotta, produced in very limited numbers. He then created bronzes executed by the Susse Frères foundry (France) and created Art Deco sculptures linked to his stay in Egypt. His production of bronzes seems quite small, but Laplagne also produced some works in patinated spelter to satisfy demand. The frequency of their appearances in auctions is quite limited. The bronze “Egyptian woman kneeling in a wicker basket”, also called “Nubian offering”, which also exists in regula, was however offered for sale by the Boisseau-Paumez study (Troyes) in March 2012. The work is in good general condition, note small classic patina wear in places. Our numerous photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. For the condition, please detail the photos. Feel free to zoom in. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Height: 14.5 cm Width: 13.5 cm Thickness: 11.4 cm S: C5FW7CRBP: 1191193 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
