17th C MINIATURE TAVERN DRINKER ADRIAEN BROUWER WOODEN PANEL GOLD FRAME A4478 This miniature portrait depicts a tavern drinker, typical of the 17th century. Concerning the artist, we found on the back a name in pencil "Brouwer". We are not certain as to the painter, the painting not bearing a signature, however after research on sites such as Artprice, the touch really reminds Adriaen Brouwer. We are not talking about attribution, we are not designating the painter with certainty. Adriaen Brouwer (1605-1638) was a painter and draftsman from the Southern Netherlands specializing in genre scenes. Brouwer especially painted scenes of taverns or tobacconists, imprinting a decisive revival on the painting of the genre starting from old examples of Brueghelian rusticity, but with an incomparable technical refinement which brings these Flemish "guesteries" to a truly dramatic great painting. and moving. The frame has a pretty leaf gilding. We report rubbing and scratches, cracks, small white dots, however the work remains in a decent general condition. Note wear of gilding and small losses on the frame. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description.
