XXth LITHOGRAPH BY ALFRED DEFOSSEZ ABSTRACT LANDSCAPE 49 OF 175 A4094 This lithograph dates from the 70s, it was made by Alfred Defossez. Alfred Defossez, also called Freddy Defossez, is a French painter and lithographer born November 11, 1932 in Paris. Beginning to paint at the age of fifteen, Alfred Defossez followed courses at the Académie Julian in Paris for four years, having notably as master Pierre Jérôme, then entered the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in 1956 for to be the pupil of Roger Chapelain-Midy, Pierre-Henri Ducos de La Haille and Boris Taslitzky. He was selected for the Young Painting Prize in 1957. Alfred Defossez evokes “the light of summer” as a major source of inspiration for his work and in this connection likes to quote Arthur Rimbaud to state his perception of “the countryside crossed by bands of rare music”. original, the paper is damaged, there are warped parts in the margin and in particular also in the engraving, pitting in the margin and on the litho.
