ENGRAVING XVII THE SEVEN CAPITAL SINS BY LUCAS VORSTERMAN L ENVIE D AFTER ADRIAEN BROUWER INVIDIA (1619 -1675) MAN WITH A SNAKE AROUND HIS CAP, SITTING ON A BARREL HOLDING A PIGLET GOLD FRAME C3516 This engraving is old no doubt it was made by Lucas Vosterman after a work attributed to Adriaen Brouwer "L'ENVIE", Lucas Vorsterman the Elder, born in 1595 in Zaltbommel and died in 1675 in Antwerp, is a Flemish engraver. He studied between the years 1617 and 1618 in the workshop of Pierre Paul Rubens. He created many engravings after the originals of Rubens and Antoine van Dyck, using new methods of metal processing.Adriaen Brouwer, 1605 or 1606 - buried in Antwerp, February 1, 1638 is a painter and draftsman of Southern Netherlands specializing in genre scenes.Vosterman has significant results, the engraving is clean the frame is posterior XXth, we note traces on the frame and the bottom which is to be reattached.Sold in uncleaned condition.
