Description

Authentic old fir buffet, lower part with two solid doors, upper part with two glass doors and 2 side windows on each side, it is covered with a matte blue paint in 2 shades.
This 19th century sideboard, offers a large part of glass presentation, which can be used for a collection or for personal decoration, additional shelves can be placed on wedges fixed in the corners for example, they could be imagined in glass to let the light and that they remain "transparent" through the side glasses, but we can also imagine, depending on the type of collection or desired presentation, fixing clips in the bottom for a harmonious dressing taking advantage of the entire height... The space under the The shelf measures 65cm, there are 66cm above. This original shelf, formerly nailed to the structure, is now placed using a system of wedges and can therefore just as well be removed to create a large diorama visible on 3 sides.
The lower part, equipped with its shelf, has a large storage space, the interior is covered with a cleaned layer of varnish that we have kept.
Its recessed upper part, its large glazed parts, the side glazing, the fine moldings on the 3 sides and its just perfect proportions give this piece of furniture a very harmonious, elegant and sober whole.
Taken back to the workshop? 2 glasses of the broken doors have been replaced by old glass, the four glasses on the front have bubbles and incredible irregularities, full of charm, as we have rarely seen!, an angle remains split at the top right (see photo) but we we preferred to keep this period glass; the side glasses have also been replaced (those in place were completely painted and cracked…), they are replaced by less old glass. The damaged cornice has been restored; the locks have been replaced. Note some paint defects...
The upper part is placed on the bottom, two holes are present in the bottom of the top, they were used to screw the two parts of the furniture together (but this is not necessary...).
The bottoms of the two parts are made of thick boards entirely roughened with a round plane and nailed flat (without grooves or tongues).
Usually we protect the matte finishes with a wax, but we have not done so (this can be offered at the time of purchase) in order to be able to leave the choice to the future purchaser to change the color easily.
This piece of furniture is therefore ready to be installed and become your real cabinet of curiosities!
Approximate overall weight: 100kg.
Dimensions: total width 159.5cm (top), 224cm high, 65.5cm depth (to top). Height of the lower part: 84cm. The upper part measures 155cm wide by almost 44.5cm deep at the top and 42.5cm at the top (the upper part is perfectly twisted:)) . Dimensions at the cornice: 161cm x 45cm.
