The base is in marble with a plate on the front with different essences. Irénée Rochard was born in 1906 in Villefranche-sur-Saône. Coming from a family of artists, he turned to this path very early on and joined the School of Fine Arts and then the School of Decorative Arts to develop his knowledge. When he creates sculptures of monkeys, gazelles, panthers or bear cubs in their daily attitudes, the delicacy and precision of his work suggest that the animals in question are alive and that they can put themselves in action at any time. The realism of his sculptures is also the result of very great observation skills for the time. Its rigor and the harmony of its production place it in an Art Deco style.
