Very beautiful old office inkwell, 19th century or earlier. Gilt silver brass or bronze metal (very heavy) rococo, rocaille or Napoleon III style, 2 barrels with lids for the inkwells and a basin in the center. Pretty "balustrade" pattern on the back, handles, feet and pen holder... Very elaborate but relatively simple and elegant. 31-32cm max length, about 12cm width, 11cm max height. Good general condition but some obvious marks of use and time, notably silvering at the level of the "basin" and on a few other more discreet areas. Patina, slightly pitted or stained metal, interior of the inkwell lids a little verdigris and interior of the barrels stained... Be careful, the middle cut has some play. Some other marks of time, slight dents, scratches. Harmonious ensemble nonetheless. Approximately 2,250kg. A handwritten inscription under the center support (reverse) "N° 1 - 391 + nil 4 or 2"
